We are in need of a head gardener experienced and knowledgeable in organic agriculture and horticulture. Someone eager to learn, work hard and has cheerful attitude. Must be able to work independently and guide volunteers. This is a full-time seasonal role.
We are seeking volunteer gardeners from July through November who are interested in learning how to tend a 28-year-old horticulture Permaculture landscape with some agriculture gardening.
You will learn from a senior experienced gardener how to design a garden, cultivate beds, prune, weed, plant, water, and generally care for ornamental plants. The food aspect will include the above as well as harvesting, storing, and preserving food.
You will need to be a strong, hard working, cheerful, willing and curious person to really benefit and contribute.
In exchange, we offer accommodations and surplus food. The main exchange is the instruction in the garden and the kitchen. You would need to provide your own transportation and money for food that is not provided by the farm.
You will be living around like minded land stewards who enjoy working, living, and learning together. There will also be a volunteer forester during your stay.

This is a year-round part-time position. Hours may vary at approximately 15-30 weekly, depending on how busy we are. The successful applicant will have a reliable vehicle, cell phone, regular access to a reliable computer, and will enjoy cleaning and organizing. This person works co-operatively with other Habitats staff including Hosting, Housekeeping, and Maintenance personnel.
